AUSTIN (Talk1370.com) -- Austin-Bergstrom International Airport posted another record-breaking month in December, wrapping up the airport's second consecutive busiest year on record in 2023.

1,802,593 passengers flew through AUS in December 2023, marking the highest December on record - a 4.9 percent increase over December 2022.

For the year, 22,095,876 passengers flew through AUS, marking a 4.77 percent increase over 2022.

July was the airport's busiest month of the year, with 2,040,981 passengers.

More than 283 million pounds of air cargo moved through AUS for the year, an 8.79 percent decline over 2022, though international air cargo was up nearly 35 percent on the year.

In addition to passenger traffic, airport officials also shared some statistics from inside the Barbara Jordan Terminal - where travelers chowed down on roughly 50 tons of Salt Lick BBQ brisket, more than one million tacos were eaten, and more than 8,200 "Keep Austin Weird" shirts were sold by the airport's concession partners.
