Serrano’s Cocina Y Cantina, the popular Austin-based Tex-Mex brand, will be undergoing extensive renovations at its Mopac location, according to recent public records. The restaurant is located at 5030 US-290.

Public records examined by What Now Austin state “Interior renovation of existing restaurant; limited work on kitchen ceiling/limited patch, repair and replace work on exterior to be completed, total sqft in scope.” The renovations will cover 4700 square feet and cost around $400,000.

“Founded in 1987, Serranos is a Mexican restaurant and bar that merges family recipes with broader Mexican traditions,” the official website states.

“With handmade tortillas, the signature flavor of food prepared on a mesquite grill, and an unwavering commitment to sourcing the highest-quality ingredients possible, Serranos serves scratch-made recipes in an atmosphere bursting with life.”

Renovations are expected to wrap up by the end of July.
