How hot will summer 2024 be in Austin?

It’s officially summer, which means things are heating up in Austin,

but how hot will it be this year?

The forecast is calling for Austin’s first 100º day of the year any time now , so we have a game for you: we want you to guess how many days will hit 100º or more this year.

First, a little background information.

Austin’s hottest year in recorded history was in 2023, with 80 days over 100º and 45 consecutive days in triple digits. By this time last year, Austin had already counted more than a dozen 100º-days.

La Niña climate patterns — which signal the cooling of ocean surface temperatures in certain areas of the Pacific — might arrive before the end of summer , which could mean warm and dry weather for Texas.
