CFB Fans Slam EA Sports College Football 25 For Reportedly Excluding Iconic Hand Signal

The "horns up" hand signal used by the Texas Longhorns is one of the most iconic gestures in sports. So, naturally, when teams play against the Longhorns, they often respond with a "horns down" signal after a big play.

This is notably done by Texas' rival, the Oklahoma Sooners, during the Red River Rivalry. However, that action was prohibited by the Big 12 in 2019, resulting in a 15-yard penalty if a player was caught doing it to a Texas player. A player could still perform the action towards the crowd. Now that the Longhorns are heading to the SEC, the question is if that will still be a penalty.

At SEC Media Days last year , SEC officials informed reporters that the lighthearted jab at the Longhorns would not result in an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty. However, there has been further controversy regarding the gesture.

It has been reported that EA Sports College Football 25 will not include the "horns down" hand gesture in the game, sparking strong reactions from fans on social media. One person criticized the decision as "weak," while another commented, "Imagine being this sensitive to a gesture."

Current Denver Bronco and former Oklahoma Sooner Nik Bonitto also commented, calling the move "soft."

A Texas fan expressed that the issue is not from the fan base; they actually want the gesture in the game.
