AUSTIN (KXAN) — The Austin Area HIV Planning Council (HIVPC) is requesting feedback from the community to help develop strategies to improve access to resources.

HIVPC said it would hold a town meeting from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at the city’s Permitting and Development Center building, located at 6310 Wilhelmina Delco Drive, RM 1406. The meeting will also be available for people to join virtually .

“This town hall is an excellent opportunity to meet face-to-face and share your experiences and needs with city staff to help improve access to care,” said Austin Public Health (APH). “We encourage anyone who has been impacted by HIV/AIDS to attend the town hall and have their voice heard.”

Organizers are expected to use the meeting to find ways to raise awareness about challenges communities face regarding HIV/AIDS prevention, testing, treatment, and care, as well as create a platform for people living with HIV to share experiences and advocate needs.

The meeting also aims to help develop strategies to improve access to healthcare, support services, and resources for communities most impacted by HIV/AIDS.

Rashana Raggs with APH joined KXAN and explained the challenges people diagnosed with HIV have with accessing disease resources. Use the video player above to watch the full discussion.
