X-factor? Texas has no single x-factor, per ESPN college football analyst

    X-factor? Texas don't need no stinking x-factor!

Well, that's not quite true. According to ESPN college football analyst Dave Wilson , there is a single key to Texas' 2024 season; it's just not a player. It's team chemistry.

Here's how Wilson broke that down:

"Texas and quarterback Quinn Ewers took a huge leap forward last season on offense, with the Heisman contender leading a pinpoint attack. But the NFL draft showed how much talent the Longhorns lost. ...

"Combine them with Jordan Whittington (Rams) and Jonathon Brooks, a running back who went in the second round and the Horns lost 76% of their receptions and more than 80% of their receiving yards. As expected, Texas reloaded, including signing transfers Isaiah Bond (Alabama), Silas Bolden (Oregon State) and Matthew Golden (Houston) along with five-star receiving recruit Ryan Wingo."

Fair points all. The Longhorns lost almost as much talent as any other contender, and they're bringing in more critical new offensive pieces than those teams as well. However, Texas fans should feel some leve of comfort after the instant success of wide receiver AD Mitchell and others in 2023.

That's the blueprint other new transfer Longhorns will follow, and that may be enough to shore up Texas' collective Achilles heel in the season ahead.
