    Police identify person of interest in 2023 hit-and-run investigation

    AUSTIN (KXAN) — The Austin Police Department requested help finding a person of interest in connection with a hit-and-run crash that occurred in September 2023.

    According to APD, 20-year-old Nilson Isaac Perez Gomez may have information regarding the incident.

    APD said the crash was on Sept. 24, 2023, at approximately 7 p.m. near Ohlen Road and Research Boulevard Service Road heading south.

    The crash resulted in an elderly victim suffering serious injuries, according to APD.

    Police described Gomez as a Hispanic man and said he weighed approximately 160lbs.

    Anyone with any information was asked to contact the Highway Enforcement Investigations Unit at 512-974-5789. Tips can also be submitted anonymously through the Capital Area Crime Stoppers Program by visiting austincrimestoppers.org or calling 512-472-8477.

    A reward of up to $1,000 may be available for any information that leads to an arrest.
