VIDEO: AFD responds to fire at salvage yard involving heavy equipment, vehicles

AUSTIN (KXAN) — One person was injured at a north Austin salvage yard fire Saturday afternoon, according to the Austin Fire Department’s social media .

AFD responded before 2 p.m. to the 800 block of Ruby Drive after receiving reports of a fire involving a tractor, multiple passenger vehicles, an 18-wheeler and heavy equipment.

By 2:45 p.m., firefighters contained the fire and worked to extinguish hot spots. AFD investigators also responded to the scene to determine the cause of the fire and assess damages.

Austin-Travis County EMS said on social media it also responded to the fire and evaluated one adult “for an isolated burn injury.” ATCEMS treated them at the scene, but the patient declined transport to a hospital.
