In 2015, Mercedes-Benz introduced the Mercedes-AMG GT Coupe, their second in-house sports car after the gull-winged SLS AMG. The AMG GT was initially available as either a GT or a GT S, with the high-performance GT R following in 2016. In 2021, an even more powerful variant called the AMG GT Black Series was released.

For the 2025 model year, the AMG GT Coupe has been split into three models, each delivering a distinct experience depending on how much of the speedometer you intend to use. The GT Coupe was previously only available as the highest-level GT 63.

The Mercedes-Benz GT 43 Coupe is an entry-level powerhouse

The entry-level GT 43 Coupe is a comfortable entry into the GT series with a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder putting out 416 hp and a $98,500 MSRP. Mercedes-Benz did not mention any other design elements but if it’s anything like the current model year GT 43, we expect it to use the same 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and MBUX infotainment system as seen in the upcoming G-Class.

The current GT 43 4-door offers a range of luxurious standard features, including heated power front seats with memory, dual-zone automatic climate control, a 64-color LED ambient lighting system, and the Keyless-Go system.

Optional extras are available for an even more elevated experience

Owners can opt for upgrades to enhance comfort and luxury, such as ventilated front seats, massage-capable AMG performance seats, a 3-zone automatic climate control system, the Air Balance cabin-air purification and fragrance system, and Nappa leather upholstery. It’s not confirmed how many of these features will make their way into the upcoming GT 43 Coupe, but we expect a majority of them to be present.

The AMG GT 63 PRO 4MATIC+ adds sportiness into the mix

Next up on the trim ladder is the AMG GT 63 PRO 4MATIC+, the model Mercedes-Benz calls the sportiest in the AMG GT series. The GT 63 PRO 4MATIC+ is powered by the AMG 4.0L V8 biturbo, delivering 603 hp and 627 lb-ft of torque.

Plenty of downforce and braking power keep the AMG GT 63 PRO 4MATIC+ planted

As the sportiest model in the range, it features unique aerodynamic components as part of the AMG Exterior Carbon Fibre Package. A front splitter, trim strips on the side sills, a rear diffuser, and a carbon fiber rear wing ensure maximum downforce on the track or curvy roads.

Behind the 21-inch forged wheels sit AMG carbon ceramic composite brakes, paired with front fixed calipers and 16.5-inch brake discs — reportedly the largest on an AMG to date. Spirited drivers should have no trouble coming to a dead stop with those brakes.

New cooling technology keeps everything at the right temperature

The company also highlights an “extensively expanded cooling package,” which could include the enlarged side air intakes and the “AIRPANEL” active air control system, as mentioned on the Mercedes-Benz website’s model page.

Pictures hint at a luxurious, sporty interior

No specific details have been provided about the interior, but images show a split digital instrument cluster and infotainment system, along with what appears to be Alcantara and contrasting red stitching. AMG performance seats and a performance steering wheel will reportedly be available as options.

    2025 AMG GT 63 S E PERFORMANCE

At the top of the lineup sits the AMG GT 63 S E PERFORMANCE. The same AMG 4.0L V8 biturbo is paired with a rear electric motor to produce 805 hp and 1,047 lb-ft of torque.

The AMG GT 63 S E PERFORMANCE can be equipped with either 20 or 21-inch AMG wheels, with similar AMG carbon ceramic composite brakes. To help keep all that power in check, Mercedes includes AMG Active Ride Control suspension with active roll stabilization as a standard feature.

The interior could feature extensive customization options

Interior details remain limited, with only a few images available on the model’s webpage. The familiar split digital instrument cluster and infotainment system return, along with seats featuring contrasting stitching. Notably, bright orange trim pieces and mood lighting provide a striking contrast to the black interior. It’s likely that owners will be able to choose different interior trim colors, especially with the mention of a MANUFAKTUR Signature Interior Package. AMG performance seats will also be offered as an option.

The MANUFAKTUR Signature program will play a part in all AMG GT models

New exterior colors, such as Desert Sand and Cirrus Silver Magno, join fresh interior upholstery choices like Savanna Beige/Black Nappa leather and Classic Red/Black Nappa leather.

For those who find plain leather a bit too common, open-pore Grey Birch Wood and open-pore Brown Ash Wood add a touch of opulence to an otherwise performance-focused model.

    Final thoughts

It’s refreshing to see Mercedes-Benz working to make its flagship sports coupe more accessible to enthusiasts. The range of powertrain options provides flexibility to meet diverse power needs while maintaining the signature luxury that Mercedes is known for.

Much like the upcoming G-Class, the approach to electrification isn’t forced, enhancing the existing gasoline engine rather than replacing it entirely. The price point will undoubtedly be steep, especially considering the entry-level GT 43 starting at $98,500, but that’s the cost of experiencing triple-digit speeds in the comfort of a Mercedes.
