Sampson County’s highway deaths increased Monday when a 25-year-old Fayetteville man was killed 6.9 miles north of Autryville in a one-vehicle collision.

According to state Highway Patrol Trooper A.C. Hall, Jackson David Parker, 25, of 809 Bagpipe Court, Fayetteville, was killed when his vehicle ran off the road and overturned.

The accident, Hall said, happened at 4:26 p.m. on State Road 1425 (Sivertsen Road) when Parker, traveling alone in a 2014 Hino Machine and Welding Supply heavy work truck, ran off of the road to the left and came back onto the roadway out of control.

The vehicle then ran off the road to the right, overturned, crossed a ditch, and came to rest on its top, fatally injuring the driver.

Monday’s accident marks the 10th fatal collision on Sampson roadway’s since January.
