Shreveport Police Investigating Late-Night Carjacking
Shreveport Police were called to the scene of the Wendy's near the Pines Road Walmart at 11pm Wednesday (7/24/24) to reports of a carjacking. Upon arrival, SPD found the victim of the carjacking. The victim claims he was there to meet a woman he had been messaging on social media. According to the victim, when he arrived to meet the woman at Walmart, she complained of vehicle trouble.

NATCHITOCHES, La. (KALB) - The Natchitoches Police Department said they are investigating an early morning shooting that happened on Lakeview Drive. NPD responded to the 400 block of Lakeview Drive around 4:01 a.m. on July 25 regarding gunshots in the area. The number of Texas deaths after Hurricane Beryl came ashore and knocked out power to millions of residents climbed to at least 36 on Thursday as officials confirmed more people who died in homes that were left without air conditioning during sweltering heat.The medical examiner's office in Fort Bend County confirmed nine more deaths, including four that were at least partially attributed to hyperthermia, or when a person's body temperature rises far above normal. Public works department employee termination decided at Lone Star city council meeting
, The Lone Star city council and Mayor Brianna McClain made the decision to terminate the public works department employee Gatlin Moore during their meeting on Thursday, July 18. Mayor McClain told the Bee that Moore has been with the city for about two and a half years and explained that “a lack of leadership and work performance is what ultimately resulted in this termination.” Besides Moore’s termination on the agenda, several items were discussed in length,with a number of them passing. The former police chief of Lone Star, Steven Blythe, is recovering from a surgery after a heart attack. Earlier this month, Blythe had brought up some questions in the community by submitting a formal resignation for his position as the police chief. Daingerfield local hosts book signing
, , , , , , , , , , , Daingerfield native Vernetta Castleberry hosted a book signing at New Birth Baptist Church in Lone Star on Saturday. Castleberry has published several books on Amazon, her two most popular ones being ‘Love Doesn’t have to Hurt - Learn to Love Again’ and ‘Sis, Stop Sleeping; It’s only an Illusion’. Both books feature in-depth discussions about the trauma of painful relationships, healing from abuse, and self-love. Several friends and family of Castleberry stood at a podium to speak proudly about her accomplishments as a published author. When Castleberry herself stood up to speak, she said, “These words, my pain was not just for me. It was for everybody. God wanted me to heal someone by writing these books. You ain’t gotta deal with it by yourself. Let us love one another.” Besides the book signing, there were several skits to bring up discussion about some of the books’ topics, a lunch, and worship.
