$21 million in construction projects coming to Edwardsville
Edwardsville, IL – Over $21 million in construction projects are coming to Edwardsville thanks to a federal grant announced by union-backed leaders in late June. U.S. Rep. Nikki Budzinski and U.S. Sens. Dick Durbin and Tammy Duckworth announced that Edwardsville will receive a $21.2 million grant from the U.S. Department of Transportation for the Goshen Road and Liberty Trail multi-modal transportation improvement project.

Two injured in Friday crash in front of SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital
Both drivers were injured in a Friday morning crash at one of the entrances to SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital. Centralia Police say a pickup truck driven by 81-year-old Ronald Jackson of Crestwood Lane in Centralia was northbound on Pleasant attempting to turn into the St. Mary’s Hospital parking lot when he drove into the path of a southbound car driven by 19-year-old Ankja Moffett of East Rexford in Centralia.

A Saturday night fire at a Centralia home is believed to be electrical in nature. Robert and Rhonda Owens of the 800 block of North Cherry Street returned home around nine Saturday night to find a living room chair and couch heavily damaged by fire. The fire apparently went out on its own.
