'Powerhouse philanthropic couple': Elderly couple who died in flash flooding mourned by Alton community
JERSEY COUNTY, Ill. — The names of the Alton, Illinois, couple who died during Tuesday's flash flooding were recently released by the local St. Mary's Catholic Church. Terry and Carolyn Dooley, both 88 years old, were found dead by deputies on Beltrees Road. Jersey County Sheriff Nick Manns said his office was alerted to a car in floodwaters at that location. The deputies found the body of Carolyn inside the car. Terry's body was later found along Piasa Creek, around a quarter-mile from the vehicle.
Spillway fails, levy fractured on Hubbard Lake in rural Centralia
Marion County Sheriff Kevin Cripps says the spillway has failed and the levee is in fractured status at Hubbard Lake off of Lake Road in rural Centralia. He says the flooding area of concern is six-tenths of a mile south of State Route 161 on Race Track Rd. If you travel to this area, please use caution.

National Weather Service Confirms Three EF-1 Tornadoes In Quad Cities Area
(Davenport, IA) -- The National Weather Service is confirming at least three tornados touched down in the QCA from Monday's derecho. Andy Ervin with the National Weather Service says one moved through Davenport into Bettendorf before crossing the Mississippi River into Illinois. Another was on the ground for eight miles between Taylor Ridge and Andover. A third touched down near Kewanee.

For many parts of the Quad Cities, stoplights are out and power companies are working hard to restore power to those affected by what has been classified as a derecho. It was a nasty, eventful Monday night. MidAmerican says that they expect to have most Quad Cities outages restored by 7:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 17th and all restored by 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
