Community gathers for Ladies Night

AVON-BY-THE-SEA — SoulShine Crystals of Avon held its first-ever event, SoulShine Ladies Night, on Thursday, July 25 from 6 to 9 p.m. for an evening of community togetherness in support of other neighboring small businesses, vendors and Live Lucky Equine Rescue.

SoulShine owner Courtney Pitta said the idea came to her as a way to gather community members, while creating nightlife throughout town and supporting other local nearby shops by garnering traffic along Main Street — all for a great cause.

“My purpose is to create a little nightlife within the summertime within the town…I really wanted to create an opportunity where people could get together, people could come out (and) could support local business.”

“I was looking to gather community, and just to really create a special night.” she added.

In addition to attendee support from residents, a number of small businesses from Avon, Belmar, Asbury Park and others supported the event by providing guests with light fare foods, with some donating their products to be part of a raffle, including items such as merchandise, candles, gift certificates and handbags.

All of the items were prepared into baskets for two types of raffle giveaways, with all proceeds going directly back in support of the nonprofit.
