AVON, Ind. — An Indianapolis man has been charged in Hendricks County after he reportedly choked and raped a woman in an Avon residence in late May.

According to court documents, Reginald Woods II was initially charged with the following counts in relation to the May 28 incident:

    • One count of domestic battery committed in the presence of a child, a Level 6 felony
    • One count of domestic battery resulting in moderate bodily injury, a Level 6 felony
    • One count of residential entry, break and enter a dwelling, a Level 6 felony

On Monday, a motion was granted by a Hendricks County judge for Woods to have the following charges added in relation to this incident:

    • One count of attempted murder, a Level 1 felony
    • One count of rape, a Level 1 felony
    • One count of burglary resulting in bodily injury, a Level 3 felony.

At around 1:10 a.m. on May 28, a woman called the Hendrick’s County Communications Center, stating that a man, later identified as Woods, reportedly choked her and left the scene. Officers then arrived at the scene and located Woods parked down the street from where the incident happened.

During an interview with the woman involved in the incident, she reportedly told officers that Woods arrived at her residence in the late hours of May 27. The woman reportedly had the door of the residence cracked open to speak to him when Woods reportedly “forced his way inside.”

The woman told police Woods wanted to have sex with her and she “said ‘No’ repeatedly.” The documents state that Woods attempted to take her clothes off and began to have sex with her, despite the woman telling him “no several times while he was on top of her.”

As this was occurring, a child in the residence reportedly woke up and came to the living room, where the incident was reportedly occurring. The documents said that Woods was told to stop by the woman again, because the child was in the room.

After the child went back to his room, the documents said that Woods choked the woman in the living room. Multiple items were knocked over in the living room before Woods reportedly knocked her down in the bathroom. Woods then reportedly placed his knee on her neck.

“(The woman) stated that (Woods) would not get up and intended to kill her,” the documents read. “(The woman) stated she tried to fight back and get him off her.”

After the woman screamed for help, Woods reportedly left the residence.

In an interview with Woods, he reportedly told officers that the sexual acts were consensual. After the sexual acts, Woods said that he had a conversation with the woman “about a ‘threesome’ with the neighbor,” causing the woman to smack him in the face.

“(Woods) pushed her with an open hand back and restrained her on the ground,” Woods reportedly told officers, according to the documents. “Once he left the residence, he also called the police to report this incident. (Woods) stated that his actions were in self-defense and the sexual acts were consensual…”

According to court documents, a pretrial conference, initially scheduled for Aug. 13, has been canceled.
