The city of Avondale is inviting residents to participate in the Avondale Citizens Water Academy, a five-part series that offers insight into the city's water and wastewater infrastructure.

The hands-on and interactive series goes from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Tuesdays in April.

Classes will take place at the Avondale Public Work’s Municipal Operations Service Center, located at 399 E. Lower Buckeye Road.

The Avondale Citizens Water Academy will provide residents with a behind-the-scenes look at the city's water reclamation facility, wetlands, and recharge basins. Led by Avondale's water professionals, the series will cover a range of topics including understanding the water source, treatment process, delivery systems, reclamation efforts, and funding through water rates.

"Our goal is to inform our community on the importance of these services and how they are managed,” Cole Pihl, water resources manager, shared in a press release.

The academy’s first session kicks off on April 2. Light dinner will be served at each session, providing a casual and informative atmosphere for learning about the intricacies of water and wastewater management.

Enrollment for the five-week academy is free but space is limited.
