Estrella Mountain Community College is looking ahead to the school year by hosting high school students and recent graduates in a Dual Enrollment & High School Graduate Admissions Workshop.

EMCC’s Center for Teaching and Learning has staff preparing for events 2-5 p.m. Thursday, July 18, and Thursday, July 25, at 3000 N. Dysart Road in Avondale.

In the workshops, students will learn about and be coached through the EMCC admissions process, completing the dual enrollment Maricopa Grant Application that helps with the cost of tuition.

Courseload affordability is not exclusive to high school students. EMCC’s estimated total cost of attendance each year is $21,290 with tools and staff to help find scholarships that fit each student’s needs.

To participate in the workshop, hopeful students are encouraged to bring a form of photo ID (Arizona driver’s permit, driver’s license, high school ID and birth certificate or United States passport). Current high school students looking for assistance with the Maricopa Grant Application should bring an award letter of participation in a benefit program like free or reduced lunch, Supplemental Social Security, Food Stamps, TANF, WIC, AHCCCS or a copy of this year’s tax return or transcript.
