Enthralling scenes unfolded in a notable Alabama school district. Those of a certain age may remember the hit MTV show Two A Days , a reality television series chronicling an elite high school football team in the Yellowhammer State. Head coach Rush Propst became a celebrity because of it, and years later, Propst was at the center of a dramatic sequence this week.

The Pell City School Board of Education held a special meeting this week with an agenda that aimed to dismiss Propst as the football team’s head coach. But after a debate Al.com described as “heated,” Propst stayed on after the BOE voted to retain him.

“As a special called meeting Wednesday morning was held before a packed house, an agenda item before the Pell City School Board of Education to fire controversial football coach Rush Propst failed when no one on the board made a motion to vote,” Al.com wrote .

Propst, the former Hoover football coach, was scrutinized after the Pell City football program was forced to forfeit a victory over an eligibility issue regarding one of its players. Those in power wanted to oust Propst, but their efforts proved futile.

Wild scenes erupted both in the meeting and outside the building. Supporters, including the high school’s football team, gathered to celebrate the decision to retain Propst.

Wildly, two board members reportedly attempted to call for the district’s superintendent to resign instead of Propst.

Sometimes, thinking about how significant football is around here is wild.
