Skip Bayless' next venture revealed?

Skip Bayless is getting ready to launch a new show, and according to Marcellus Wiley, he’s bringing a former Undisputed contributor with him.

Bayless insisted he had a plan after FS1 decided to part ways with the 72-year-old sports personality, teasing a new show and venture that would be ready closer to the NFL season. Now that the NFL season is here, Wiley announced on his own podcast that Bayless is getting set to launch a new show with Lil Wayne.

“He running it back with Lil Wayne,” Wiley said. “That’s what the word on the street is. Got this report, can’t out my source because then my source would be outed and I wouldn’t get any more information or intel like I did. Like I told you when Skip Bayless’s last day was at Undisputed , that came to be true. This shall come to be true as well.”

While all was quiet surrounding Bayless’s exit from FS1 earlier this summer, Wiley was first to report Friday, Aug. 2 was going to be his last day on the network. Immediately after the Aug. 2 episode of Undisputed , Bayless sent a social media post to confirm his departure.

One week later, Bayless said he was very excited for the next chapter of his career, adding, “I can’t wait to reveal all of the above as we get closer to the launch of the NFL season.” The NFL season kicks off this week and while Bayless hasn’t shared anything new about his future, it appears a show with Wayne is in the works.

For those who doubt the relationship between Bayless and Wayne, Wiley insists its authentic, citing a friendship that stems from their love for sports and unmatched work ethic. One year ago, Bayless added Wayne to Undisputed as a weekly contributor, joining the rotating cast of analysts tasked with filling the void left by Shannon Sharpe’s exit. And one year later, you’d be hard-pressed to find anyone who would consider Wayne’s addition to Undisputed a success. Wayne’s weekly stops alongside Skip were hardly must-see television. But Wiley suggested Wayne being one of several panelists may not have been a good fit for him, predicting more chemistry in a one-on-one setting with Bayless.

Bayless also teased a future show with Wayne earlier this year. In May, a Skip Bayless Show listener asked the veteran sports personality what he would still like to accomplish in his career.

“I’m going to do a show with my brother Lil Wayne,” Bayless answered . “I’m not talking about just a couple of segments at the end of Friday’s Undisputed , I’m talking about a show. A real live show. A sports-based show with music and life mixed in.”

Four months later, that show appears to be coming a reality. Bayless has enjoyed a long career as one of the most well-known personalities in sports media for decades. But he undoubtedly lost some luster in the last year and it’s hard to imagine a show with Wayne giving Bayless much of a renaissance.
