Star QB has funny moment in postgame interview

While Week 4’s Sunday Night Football game between the Buffalo Bills and Baltimore Ravens felt like it might be a heavyweight clash between two AFC powerhouses, it wasn’t much of a game, with the Ravens winning 35-10. But even though the game lacked the expected drama, it did give us an entertaining moment in a postgame interview, thanks to Lamar Jackson.

Baltimore got rolling on its first offensive play when Derrick Henry scored on a franchise-record 87-yard touchdown run. It’s not the first time we’ve seen Henry score on a long run. He and Hall of Famer Tony Dorsett are the only players in NFL history to have a 99-yard touchdown run to their names. But in most of Henry’s highlights, his power has been on full display. On this run, it was Henry’s speed on display. He worked his way through the holes set up by the offensive line, then outsprinted the Buffalo defense – along with some of his own teammates – to the end zone.

When the game was over, NBC’s Melissa Stark interviewed both Henry and Jackson. Jackson was interviewed first and one of the questions he was asked concerned Henry’s speed.

“You told us that people underestimate Derrick Henry’s speed, that you even underestimated it. How fast is he?” Stark asked.

Jackson’s response indicated that he might have forgotten that he was on television – even if only briefly.

“Shi — Oh, I almost cursed,” Jackson said laughing. “I don’t know. I don’t know, man, he different. He start pulling away from guys. He’s just, man, that’s the King Henry, man. King Henry.”

While we could have – and certainly would have – forgiven Jackson for the slip, we credit him for a nice save.
