Bob Costas's playoff assignment unveiled

If the Wild Card games so far have given us a preface of what’s to come, the rest of the 2024 Major League Baseball postseason could be something special.

As for who will be calling all of those upcoming games, the rest of the upcoming postseason broadcast assignments have been announced.

Game 3 between the New York Mets and Milwaukee Brewers on Thursday features Jon “Boog” Sciambi on the call with Doug Glanville as Jesse Rogers mans the sidelines.

“Calling these games is an expression of brotherly love,” Glanville told Awful Announcing on Thursday. “I find great joy to work with Jon who is like another brother to me. We love to ‘nerd out’ on the data but care that it is informative and fun. Jon is always prepared and challenges you as an analyst to be ready to lean into your expertise. Then we just hang out together. Two 80s children loving on the game.

“It is an honor to be the voices of such a consequential game. I know what it means to both teams, both cities. I felt that as a player, a fan, and now a storyteller. It must be done responsibly but also with joy because in the end this is fun and I feel very fortunate to do this as my profession.”

After the other Wild Card games concluded in sweeps, the American League Division Series broadcasters have been reported for the TBS broadcasts.

Per SI’s Jimmy Traina, legendary broadcaster Bob Costas will be on the call with Ron Darling as the New York Yankees and Kansas City Royals face off.

The National League Divison Series with the Los Angeles Dodgers hosting the San Diego Padres on TBS will feature Joe Davis and John Smoltz on the call.

The NLDS with either the Mets/Brewers against the Philadelphia Phillies will have play-by-play from Adam Amin with former MLB players AJ Pierzynski and Adam Wainwright as analysts.

Brian Anderson and former Gold Glove winner Jeff Francoeur will be calling the ALDS series between the Detroit Tigers and the Cleveland Guardians.

On the radio side, Karl Ravech and Eduardo Perez will be in the booth with Tim Kurkjian as an analyst for the Royals-Yankees, Sciambi, and Glanville will follow the Mets/Brewers winner to Philly, and Roxy Bernstein and Jessica Mendoza will be on the call for Padres-Dodgers. National League Championship Series radio responsibilities will go to Sciambi and Glanville.
