Fox broadcaster responds to claims of being biased

Sunday’s Game 2 matchup in the NLDS Series between the New York Mets and the Philadelphia Phillies was another entertaining one on the field. But some fans on both sides didn’t love the on-air performance of Fox play-by-play broadcaster Adam Amin, which he addressed after the game on social media.

There is no love lost between the Mets and Phillies fanbases. And when you add in a postseason series between the two teams, there will obviously be an even higher level of animosity between the two sides.

Every great broadcaster’s main goal going into a broadcast is to call the action on the field as they see it without any bias involved in their analysis. But some fans believe that Amin and the rest of the Fox broadcasting crew, consisting of Adam Wainwright and A.J. Pierzynski, have failed to do that.

Amin took to social media to share a screenshot of numerous mentions on social media from viewers who believed that he called the game with a bias against their favorite team. But the only problem is that both Phillies and Mets fans seem to believe that Amin had a bias in the favor of the other team.

“We did it. We hit the quadfecta of bias! Don’t ever change, you guys,” wrote Amin on X. “Sports are pretty great. So is the job. Love you all. Really, I do.”

If both fanbases believe that Amin has a bias against them, that actually likely means that the truth is somewhere in the middle and that the Fox crew is really doing what they are supposed to be doing and calling things fairly.

Adam Wainwright came to the same conclusion in a reply to Amin’s post on X as well.

“I think this means we potentially, might have been… unbiased? Maybe?”

Again, emotions are very clearly high between the two fanbases given the rivalry involved in this already important series. So perhaps their view of Amin’s on-air performance is ironically skewed by their own “bias” for their favorite team.

While some fans clearly aren’t all that happy with Amin,  many of his peers in sports media viewed his on-air performance much differently, taking to social media to offer him praise.

“I can’t stand either team, but Adam Amin is a national treasure on the call,” wrote Tennessee Volunteers broadcaster Brian Rice on X.

“Adam Amin is so good,” wrote New Mexico State play-by-play voice Adam Young on X.

The only biased commentary this playoff season was Ben Macdonald calling the Orioles series. He's their color guy and they had him call their playoff games.
