Mayfield sounds off on Texas players troll job

Trolling doesn’t end when you finish college and head to the NFL. Not by a long shot. Neither does a long-stemming rivalry.

Linebacker Barryn Sorrell stuck a Texas flag through an Oklahoma Baker Mayfield jersey on the field after a win in the Red River Rivalry on Saturday. One day later, Mayfield was asked about it.

“Just a kid from Austin, Texas that went to Oklahoma, won his last two Red River games and being rent-free in their heads for almost a decade,” Mayfield said on Sunday after the Tampa Bay Buccaneers 51-27 victory over the New Orleans Saints.

The Red River rivalry is a big one and it didn’t stop there.

Hill even posed with the ripped-up jersey in the locker room on Saturday following the 34-3 victory. And Smokey the Cannon shot through the shirt. Just in case the display on the 50-yard line wasn’t enough.

Hill is a local guy playing for Denton Ryan High School in Denton, Tex. So there’s probably a little extra incentive for him. He was happy to get the Golden Hat back in the program’s possession.

Mayfield’s last season at Oklahoma was 2017. He was selected first overall by the Cleveland Browns in the 2018 NFL Draft.

As far as why Hill did all of this …

“I’ve seen all the stuff they posted last year so I feel like it was right for me to get just a touch of something on them,” Hill said, via On3.com. “I just had to post me a little something to make the team and make us feel good.”
