Tony Romo tried to make bird sounds during Ravens game

Only three things in life are certain. Death, taxes, and Tony Romo making sound effects while broadcasting an NFL game.

The former Cowboys quarterback has a long history of making some…odd noises while on the call, and his CBS broadcast partner Jim Nantz wanted Romo to add to that legacy during the Baltimore Ravens-Washington Commanders game on Sunday.

As has become a staple of NFL broadcasts, CBS decided to highlight a community service effort by the home team during the second quarter of Sunday’s game. This particular effort by the Ravens, dubbed a “caw to action,” spurred a fun moment between Nantz and Romo in the booth.

“Tony, you can help me with this one,” Nantz started his promo read, “This past Monday the Ravens hosted their sixth annual caw …” at which point Romo graced viewers with a sound that could perhaps best be described as vaguely bird-like. “ Caw , caw ,” Romo sung out as Nantz acknowledged his partner’s attempt while trying to finish the read. Romo, apparently not satisfied with his initial effort, let out one last halfhearted “ caw ,” before Nantz wrapped up the segment.

Romo’s reputation for noise-making is well-known now in his eighth season calling NFL games. Some have even suggested that this tendency is rubbing off on Fox’s new lead NFL analyst . While Romo’s moment Sunday may have been a bit more manufactured than most of his ooh’s, oh’s, and ah’s, credit to him for playing into the bit.
