Barstool host suggests Tom Brady will pursue Bill Belichick

On Tuesday, reports emerged that NFL on Fox broadcaster Tom Brady, who recently got his ownership stake of the Raiders approved by the league, will have a “bigger role than expected” within the organization. Perhaps so much so that Brady may have a big say in the Raiders’ head coaching future, according to Barstool Sports podcast host Kirk Minihane.

On Wednesday’s edition of The Kirk Minihane Show , Minihane revealed that he has heard from multiple sources in the New England Patriots organization that Brady’s first move as part-owner of the Raiders will be to approach Bill Belichick to see if he has any interest in coaching the Raiders.

“I’ll just say this, I won’t get specific. People have told me that Brady’s first move is gonna be to ask Bill Belichick to be the new coach of the Las Vegas Raiders. Two sources have told me that. Two [sources] high-up in the Patriots organization have told me that.”

It perhaps wouldn’t be all that much of a surprise to see the Raiders move off of current head coach Antonio Pierce. Las Vegas currently sits at 2-4 with very little promise on paper for the remainder of the season given their questionable at-best quarterback situation.

Belichick has expressed his desire to coach somewhere in the NFL next season. However, he has already expressed that he is waiting for the “right situation” for his return to coaching. And he does have several media responsibilities he is currently a part of including the Let’s Go! podcast, Inside The NFL , and ESPN’s Manningcast alternate stream of Monday Night Football among others.

At the best of times, Belichick and Brady made the perfect coach-player duo that experienced the highest of highs in the NFL. But we also can’t ignore the somewhat ugly breakup between the two when Brady left to play for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Would Belichick really drop everything he currently has going on to coach this directionless Raiders team? Only time will tell if Minihane’s sources are even to be believed. But it would certainly be quite the sell-job from Brady to be able to pull this off.
