Fox makes bizarre Tom Brady decision

With Tom Brady currently in the midst of a 10-year, $375 million contract, it appears Fox is looking to get a little more bang for its buck.

As the seven-time Super Bowl champion continues to get more comfortable in the broadcast booth, his employer is adding more to his plate. At least that was the case on Sunday, when Brady — or at least a hologram version of him — appeared in-studio during Fox NFL Sunday .

“We’re in Los Angeles, Tom Brady’s in Santa Clara getting ready to call that game [between the San Francisco 49ers and Kansas City Chiefs],” host Curt Menefee said. “But through the magic of television — there he is.”

At that moment, the hologram version of Brady beamed down, seemingly joining the Fox studio show in-person. The digital 47-year-old proceeded to give what was a presumably a pre-recorded answer about Chiefs superstar quarterback Patrick Mahomes before later answering a prompt from Menefee about what the 49ers need to do to get over the hump against their two-time Super Bowl foe.

Brady then beamed back to Santa Clara, with Michael Strahan bringing the segment to an end with a joke about the hologram’s disproportionate scale.

“The technology is really cool nowadays with what you can do,” the Hall of Fame defensive end said. “Except the scale was a little off. Tom Brady is not bigger than me. I’ll tell you that right now, America. Don’t you dare run up on me, Tom Brady. Plus, the noggin was giving Howie [Long] a run for his money.”

Give Fox an A for effort, but the execution certainly left something to be desired. For one, Brady’s appearance didn’t add much to the segment from a content standpoint beyond the apparent presence of the greatest quarterback of all-time. And as Strahan noted, the scaling was certainly off, making it difficult for viewers to suspend disbelief for long enough to convince themselves Brady was actually in the studio.

Based on the reaction to the segment on social media , hologram Brady was more of a miss than a hit. Still, give Fox credit for trying to find creative ways to get the most out of its highest profile NFL employee.

Tom Brady is not the best quarterback of all time to be the best he would ever have had to against the best against the Defense and the rules that they to play against and the rules the game has changed a lot it's still a physical game but in today's game you have rules protecting the quarterback you didn't have back then and you have TV timeouts along with the health care they get before during and following the games along with the conditioning year round they didn't have that the hits hurt more the injuries where just as bad but now you have much better medical care that extends their tenure longer than it was back in the 60s,70s,80s
