If Tuesday night's presidential debate helped you decide how to cast your vote, you won't have to wait very long to do so.

    • Early voting in Davidson County starts Oct. 16.

Why it matters: As our national colleagues have noted , the widespread embrace of early voting has changed the meaning of Election Day, which is Nov. 5.

    • Millions of voters across the country will start casting ballots beforehand.

State of play: Nashville residents will have 14 days of in-person early voting during this cycle.

    • In Nashville, early voters can cast their ballots at any of the 13 designated locations .
    • The last day of early voting is Oct. 31.

Zoom in: The Davidson County Election Commission has added a new location for this election: the Lentz Public Health Center on Charlotte Avenue.

Don't forget: The deadline to register to vote in the election is Oct. 7.

We've done early voting since it started in the 90s. Not everyone has the type of job where you can vote on election day. I had to be at work an hour before voting started and usually finished my route and got home just after the polls closed. With early voting if I was off early enough on a Saturday I could go vote. Election Day only was ridiculous. They used to not close schools and all the people in line would stop us from getting to lunch that day.
