    Nearly 25% of Bay Area renters spend more than half their paycheck on rent

    Then change the rent based on the family's income and then allocate percentage of the apartments to reflect income groups. So, if we set 10% flat rate as rent, a family that makes $120k would pay $1,000 as rent, and another family that makes $240k would pay $2,000 as rent. It would resemble almost how the tax bracket is established.

    You can share an apartment with your friend or be nice to your parents and move in with them. I lived with my parents for several years before buying my own house. My son shared an apartment with 3 friends for $6000 a month while he was in college…2 bedrooms.
