    Braves cap off Hank Aaron week with showcase game

    The Atlanta Braves will host a free showcase game at Truist Park to honor baseball legend Henry "Hank" Aaron .

    The latest: The game features 44 high-school athletes who competed during the two-week Hank Aaron Invitational series at the Jackie Robinson Training Complex in Vero Beach, Florida, according to a Braves news release .


    • The annual Hank Aaron Invitational event is meant to develop baseball talent among higher schoolers from diverse backgrounds.

    State of play: This year's invitational also comes days after the United States Postal Service released new Forever stamps honoring Aaron and other late celebrities.

    • The USPS, which released the stamp on Wednesday, announced its debut on the 50th anniversary of Aaron breaking Babe Ruth's record by hitting his 715th home run as a Brave, Axios' Kelly Tyko writes .

    Fun fact: The 44 selected athletes — a number in homage to the number worn by Aaron throughout his career — hail from across the nation, including Alabama and Gwinnett County .

    Stop by: The game will be played at 10:30am Saturday at Truist Park.

    • Admission for the showcase game is free, and attendees can reserve tickets online .
    • The showcase matchup will also stream live on MLB.com and will re-air on MLB Network Sunday on Aug. 4 at 8pm.
