    Hurricane Helene: How to report downed trees, power outages

    Hurricane Helene is forecast to move out of Atlanta by late Friday, and post-storm cleanup could take some time.

    Why it matters: The storm will leave behind a trail of debris, plus some lingering floods and downed power lines that could continue to pose life-threatening risks.


    Here's where to go for help.

    šŸšØ Emergencies: If you or anyone else is injured or in a life-threatening situation, call 911.

    ā˜Žļø 311: Atlanta residents can call 311 to report downed trees (with no injuries), broken traffic signals, roadway obstructions, flooding or clogged basins.

    • The city of Atlanta says 311 will remain open overnight Thursday and close Friday night at midnight.
    • You can contact 311 via phone (dial 311 or 404-546-0311), email ( atl311@atlantaga.gov ) or via the ATL311 app.

    šŸ  Shelter: The city has opened shelter space for unhoused individuals at the former Wellstar AMC Center in Old Fourth Ward and Gateway Center in downtown.

    • The Georgia Department of Natural Resources' state parks division has facilities available for displaced people. Visit GEMA's website for a list of shelters.

    šŸ¶ Pets: The Georgia Department of Agriculture has resources for people with displaced pets, horses and livestock.

    • Visit the department's website to view an interactive map of shelters.

    āš”ļø Downed lines: Contact Georgia Power at 1-888-891-0938 if there's a downed power line or other dangerous situation.

    šŸ”Œ Power outages : Let Georgia Power know you have lost power via this form . Check the outage map here for status updates.

    šŸ›œ Internet, TV or phone outage: Contact your service provider.
