Seaboard Brewing, a brewery and taproom based in Matthews , will open a second location in Lower South End Friday, Aug, 2.
Why it matters: It's the latest tenant to open at The Platform at LoSo , a 38,000-square-foot adaptive reuse development along the Rail Trail where South End and Lower South End meet.
Flashback: The original Seaboard Brewing opened nearly eight years ago in downtown Matthews, part-owner Gary Murray tells Axios. It was, and still is, the town's only brewery.
What to expect: Seaboard LoSo won't be a brewery like its original location. Instead, it'll have more of a taproom feel, Murray says, with a full-service bar and dining, plus:
- A covered patio looking out on the Rail Trail.
- A private event space.
- Live music and DJs from local group Radical Grove on Fridays and Saturdays.

Sip on this: Seaboard brews nearly every style of beer from Mexican lagers to sours to German-style beers. "We don't want to be 80% IPA," Murray Joked. The LoSo space will serve domestic and non-alcoholic beers.
- In addition to ten original Seaboard brews on tap, there are also 350 types of wine, including 1,200 bottles, plus a full bar offering craft cocktails, mocktails and martini towers.
- Seaboard also has a wine club called "That F*cking Wine Club." Standard membership is $75 per month and includes three bottles of wine each month, plus 10% off bottles anytime.

Best bites: Seaboard makes all of its food in-house, with pizza and build-your-own charcuterie as focal points.
- If you've ever eaten the pizza from The Exchange Pizza Depot at Seaboard in Matthews, it's the same menu.
- Charcuterie comes with options of three, five, seven and ten meats and cheeses (think sweet sopressata, manchego, brie), plus add-ons like candied walnuts and fig jam.
- There are also dessert charcuterie boards and other sweet treats like Nutella donuts.
