UNC, Duke, NC State, South Carolina, Virginia Tech and Vanderbilt outdoor hockey coming to Charlotte

Eight college hockey teams will play outdoor games at Truist Field this winter.

Why it matters: Truist Field has become a year-round destination, with its outdoor skating rink becoming a winter staple, particularly during the annual Light the Knights .

The 2024 Light the Knights College Hockey Series takes place Nov. 21-23 and Jan. 4.

• Nov. 21: Duke vs. Vanderbilt
• Nov. 22: Charlotte 49ers vs. Appalachian State
• Nov. 23: N.C. State vs. South Carolina
• Jan. 4: North Carolina vs. Virginia Tech

If you go: Tickets are on sale for North Carolina vs. Virginia Tech and start at $22.95. Tickets for the other three games will go on sale later.

• Gates open at 6pm and the games start at 7pm.

Plus: The 5th annual Light the Knights festival runs Wednesday, Nov. 27 through Friday, Jan. 3.

• Expect ice skating, snow tubing, shopping and holiday treats at the holiday market. Tickets and festival events will be announced later.
