New restaurants and bars coming soon to The Alley at Latta Arcade in Uptown

Several locally-owned restaurants and bars will open at The Alley at Latta Arcade in Uptown by the end of the year.

Why it matters: The Alley at Latta Arcade , formerly known as Latta Arcade, went through a remodel and rebranded last year.

Context: Chicago real estate firm Northpond bought Latta Arcade in March 2020 with plans to reimagine the historic Uptown landmark as a food and beverage destination.

Driving the news: Biryani Bliss, an Indian restaurant by the owners of Biryani Nation , recently opened at The Alley.

• It joins pizza joint 800º Carolinas , which opened in June and other eateries like Argentinian empanadas shop, Felix Empanadas , fast-casual salad spot Crisp and Japanese and Hawaiian restaurant Ohana Poké .

Zoom in: The Alley is also home to flower shop Gather Flower Studio and Tony's Shoe Shine, which has been around for more than 70 years, per a press release.

What's next: Six new restaurants and bars will open at The Alley by the end of this year.

• BFF (Burgers, Fries & Franks) will reopen in the coming weeks after closing for renovations.
• Maneki , a robatayaki food stand by the owner of Counter-, will open at the end of October.
• Jean's Cold Drinks , a new bar by Ramble co-founder Larry Suggs, will open in late 2024.
• The owners of Protagonist Brewing Co. will open an all-day restaurant later this year offering breakfast in the morning and beer after 10am.
• The Dumpling Lady will open later this year.
