Sweetgreen will open in Huntersville's Birkdale Village in 2025.

Why it matters: It's the second Charlotte-area location announced for the fast-casual salad chain, which has a notoriously devoted customer base.

Catch up quick: Sweetgreen announced last year it would open its first North Carolina location in Uptown at 101 North Tryon St. , in the same building as Monarch Market .

What they're saying: "Sweetgreen will be opening in Birkdale Village in 2025. We will share further details closer to the opening date," the company said in an email to Axios.

What to expect: Sweetgreen is known for its creative salads and bowls, many of which are made with locally grown produce.

Yes, and: Sweetgreen is one of those popular national chains that Charlotteans have long clamored for — along with retailers like Zara and Wegmans .

What we're watching: The fast-casual salad chain is set to open its Uptown location this month.
