El Thrifty has closed after nearly five years at Optimist Hall. Its last day was Sept. 22, according to a statement from the food hall.

Why it matters: At more than 6,300 square feet, El Thrifty was Optimist Hall's largest restaurant tenant, providing a nighttime draw beyond the dozens of food stalls that the hall is known for.

Flashback: Reid Olsen and Joe Lariscy, the team behind Queen Park Social, opened El Thrifty in October 2019.

    • The entertainment destination had Mexican-inspired food, craft cocktails, music and games across its two rooms and patio with skyline views.

What they're saying: Optimist Hall partner Erik Johnson said that his team plans on "activating this space this holiday season to further provide our guests with the fun, family-friendly experiences they've come to know and love."

    • It's unclear what will replace El Thrifty.

What's next: There a a couple of new food tenants slated to open this year at Optimist Hall.
