Celebrities hovered around Chicago this week, participating in various events and performances at the Democratic National Convention .

The big picture: Actor Chris Witaske is a recognizable face to most Chicagoans because of roles on FX's "The Bear," Netflix's "Love" and "Chicago Party Aunt" and for his time performing comedy on Second City stages.

State of play: Witaske is starring in a new role — surrogate for the Harris/Walz campaign.

What they're saying: " I think Kamala and Tim are awesome people with good characters and value," Witaske tells Axios.

    • "Also, I truly believe that Donald Trump should not be leading this country."

Zoom in: Witaske, now living in L.A., was back in town as part of the Creative Coalition, an artistic group that lobbies for federal funding for the arts, free speech and education.

    • He attended panels, press conferences and parties, including the benefit concert featuring Joan Jett and the Heartbreakers at the Ramova Grill in Bridgeport.

Context: Witaske grew up in the Chicago area, and is the man behind the wildly popular Twitter persona Chicago Party Aunt , which went viral in 2018 and led to two seasons of an animated show on Netflix.

    • So how is Chicago Party Aunt enjoying herself at the DNC? "This convention f***ing rocks!"

What's next: Witaske is starring in season four of "The Bear." The release date has yet to be released.
