Make the most of the second weekend in October with these D.C.-area festivals, shows and events.
What to expect: Things to do include the Snallygaster beer festival, White House garden tours , the end of Theatre Week and the Army Ten-Miler.
1. 🍻 Snallygaster
The District's biggest beer festival is almost here.
What to expect: Snallygaster will serve up hundreds of brews — from West Coast IPAs to beer finished with gummy bears.
Beverage director Greg Engert told Axios what beverages he's most looking forward to, all produced exclusively for the event:
- CKXV by The Veil Brewing Co., a barrel-aged stout blend finished with Madagascar and Indonesian vanilla.
- CK15 by Oxbow: a mix of old barrel-aged farmhouse beers.
- 100 Miles & Running by Monkish Brewing Co.: a hazy double IPA brewed with select Citra, Nelson Sauvin and Krush hops.
Brewer traveling the farthest: Japas Cervejaria from São Paulo, Brazil.
- "This female-owned, Brazilian-Japanese brewery is bringing some fire," Engert says. "They'll be pouring Kanpai, Japas' 10th-anniversary beer that's fermented with white grapes for a champagne-like flavor profile."
