Here are some local events and ways to learn about Indigenous cultures around D.C.

• Visit the National Museum of the American Indian , where current exhibitions include "Unbound: Narrative Art of the Plains" and "Algonquian Peoples of the Chesapeake." Don't skip a meal using Indigenous ingredients and cooking techniques at Mitsitam Cafe .
• Join the D.C. Bird Alliance for a special tour of Roosevelt Island, which was inhabited by Native American tribes through the 18th century (free, registration required).
