The Colorado Rockies are headed for another losing season

The Colorado Rockies might be having a worse summer than Drake .

The big picture: The Denver ball club sits last in their division and last in the National League.

    • But they aren't the worst team in the MLB, at least when considering overall records: The Chicago White Sox are, somehow, worse.
    • Still, the Rockies are 32-60 so far this season as of July 10.

State of play: None of this, sadly, is surprising for a team projected to finish another season in the league's cellar.

Poor pitching , lack of offensive firepower, and giving up way too many runs are the chief reasons why the Rockies are just plain bad.

    • On average, the team allows about six runs per game, per sports site Fansided .

What they're saying: "This remains a completely rudderless organization," CBS Sports' Dayn Perry writes while grading the team's midseason form a C-.

    • Fansided was less kind, giving the team a D, noting they gave up multiple runs in 49 consecutive games.
    • ESPN took things a step further, awarding the Rockies a D-, and posting a damning critique: "The troubling thing is that there's no sign of progress here either, as they're matching last year's 103-loss pace."

The intrigue: The Rockies are not good but "their vibe inside the clubhouse is actually pretty good," the Denver Post's Patrick Saunders writes .

    • Saunders notes the team's overall environment isn't toxic, which he credits to Colorado Rockies manager Bud Black, whom Saunders writes doesn't need replacement.

What's next: It's likely the team will finish with 100 or more losses for a second consecutive season.

    • But hey, Coors Field remains a beautiful ballpark, and worth attending even when your chances of seeing a Rockies victory are slim.
