No Colorado Rockies player is shining quite like Ryan McMahon.

The big picture: The 29-year-old third baseman earned his first career All-Star selection this season, getting a reserve role on the National League team through a players' vote.

    • He's the only Rockies player to receive the honor this season.

What they're saying: "For me, personally, getting voted in by the players is the biggest honor you can receive," McMahon told The Denver Post on July 7, when his selection was announced.

By the numbers: McMahon led all National League third basemen in on-base percentage while ranking second in batting average, hits and runs scored at the time of his selection, according to the MLB .

Context: McMahon is the fourth Rockies' third baseman selected to play in the game, with Nolan Arenado the most recent selection (2015-2019).

    • McMahon was selected out of Mater Dei High School in California during the 2013 MLB Draft's second round. McMahon saw his major league debut with the Rox in 2017.

Fun fact: The Rockies All-Star selection last year, catcher Elias Diaz , won the 2023 All-Star Game MVP after hitting a two-run home run during the game.

What's next: The MLB All-Star Game airs July 16 on FOX and will be played at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas.
