It's time to don your costumes β€” Halloween is almost here, and bars and restaurants around the metro are serving spooky surprises to commemorate the season.

Driving the news: Your typical haunts are featuring fun twists on their decor and menus through Nov. 2.

🍺 Exile: The Des Moines brewery is hosting The Haunting, with Halloween drinks, dishes and decor on the top and bottom levels. Special events throughout the month include "Drinks with Dracula" and a costumed "Beggar's Brunch."

πŸ’€ Good News, Darling: The downtown speakeasy is serving its "Disturb" menu this month and offering eyebrow-raising cocktails like "Dead!" β€” a tequila drink with mole, white chocolate, ancho and ... chicken fat wash.

    • Opens at 7pm, Wednesday-Saturday.

😈 Nightmare on Ingersoll and Nightmare at Jordan Creek: The Station is hosting Halloween pop-ups at its Des Moines location, as well as its new temporary space at Jordan Creek mall . Both offer specialty drinks and fun events throughout the month like "Beetlejuice" trivia.

🍸 The Republic on Grand: The Wicked Heights rooftop Halloween pop-up includes specialty cocktails and a costume party Oct. 26.

    • No reservations needed. 3-10pm Monday-Thursday, 2pm-midnight Friday-Saturday, 3-10pm Sunday.
