Texans look to shine against Bears

The Texans will be in the national spotlight Sunday against the Chicago Bears.

Why it matters: Quarterback C.J. Stroud and company have the chance to shine both nationally on Sunday Night Football and, perhaps more importantly, in this season's first game at NRG Stadium.

Driving the news: Both the Texans and Bears are 1-0 going into Week 2.

Catch up quick: The Texans toppled the Indianapolis Colts on the road thanks to a league-leading running game that made running back Joe Mixon the AFC Offensive Player of the Week.

The intrigue: Stroud, in his second season, said the Texans " barely showed what we've got " in Indianapolis and are ready for Chicago in Week 2.

The other side: While Stroud's offensive prowess was on display in Week 1, Chicago's rookie quarterback, Caleb Williams, made only 14 completions on 29 passes for only 93 yards.

• Despite Williams' underwhelming debut, the Bears went on to beat the Tennessee Titans 24-17 thanks to stellar work by the team's defense and special teams, which scored most of their points.

Fun fact: Williams was the first rookie quarterback to be the No. 1 pick and win his team's season opener in 22 years.

• The last time that happened? In 2002, when Texans quarterback David Carr led the team to victory over the Dallas Cowboys in the Houston franchise's inaugural season.
