Injury-plagued Texans host Jaguars at NRG Stadium

The Texans, desperate to put their poor Week 3 performance behind them, gear up for the winless Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday at NRG Stadium.

The intrigue: The Texans are 2-1 and plagued with injuries on offense, per KPRC .

    • Wide receiver Tank Dell is likely out with bruised ribs after taking a rough hit at the end of last week's loss to the Minnesota Vikings.
    • Running back Joe Mixon is still week-to-week with an ankle injury from an illegal hip-drop tackle by Chicago Bears linebacker T.J. Edwards in Week 2.
    • And backup running back Dameon Pierce has a strained hamstring and wasn't at Thursday's practice .

Yes, but: The setbacks aren't smashing the Texans' optimism against a fellow AFC South team.

What they're saying: "The Jaguars will be a really good team to go against," head coach DeMeco Ryans said . "We're excited to have a division opponent coming into our house and see how we respond."

The other side: The Jaguars, though 0-3, have a defense that was praised by Texans quarterback C.J. Stroud, who threw two interceptions in last week's loss to the Vikings.

How to watch: Kickoff is at noon on CBS.
