A twist on Miami's favorite sandwich

It's the most important (fake) holiday of the year: National Cuban Sandwich Day.

Why it matters: The ham-and-pork sandwich is Miami's most famous dish , and no matter what anyone says, we will always win the intra-state debate about its true origin story .

So let's celebrate — even if you make your Cubano with salami like they do in Tampa.

State of plate: If you're looking for a twist on the familiar, try the Cuban sandwich spring rolls from Blue Collar in MiMo.

    • They're thin, crispy and full of flavor. This $15 appetizer is like the Cuban version of Flanigan's legendary rib roll .
    • Without the Cuban bread, you can really savor the serrano ham, ground pork and melty cheese.

By the way: If you want a good deal on a traditional Cuban sandwich, head to Vicky Bakery today for $5 sammies from 11am-1pm.
