Florida's richest man unveils plans for Citadel's new Brickell HQ

The 54-story tower that will serve as the headquarters for Citadel, Ken Griffin's hedge fund, is expected to break ground next year.

Why it matters: Griffin, Florida's richest man , moved his financial empire to Miami from Chicago in 2022.

• The philanthropist and Republican megadonor has already made his mark on South Florida, donating millions to hospitals and public schools.

The details: The project, submitted to Miami-Dade County this week, is located at 1201 Brickell Bay Drive and will span roughly 1.7 million square feet.

• The upper floors will occupy approximately 413,000 square feet for a 212-room hotel, spa, conference room and event space.
• About 23,500 square feet will be slated for restaurant and/or retail space.
