Monday Munchies: Waystone Pizza in Fayetteville

ICYMI, Fayetteville pizza joint Mojo's Pints & Pies moved all its operations to its second location off of East Mission Boulevard leaving its original home on Garland Avenue pizza-less.

State of play: Enter Waystone Pizza Co. that took over the spot. The laid-back feel of the place is similar to when Mojo's was there.

šŸ• What I ate: A margherita pizza called The Mrs. Simpson ($23 14-inch or $28 16-inch) and the Pep in Your Step with pepperoni, pickled jalapeƱos and honey ($23 14-inch or $25 16-inch).

šŸ˜ The verdict: The pizza isn't bad, but I can't say I'd pick it over any similarly-priced pizza in the area. Granted, it's right by the university and maybe if I were a college student whose friends wanted to go out for pizza last-minute at 10pm, I'd happily end up here.

    • It's exceptionally greasy, and the pepperoni on the Pep in Your Step in particular wasn't the quality you'd expect for the price.

šŸŗ Avoid: Anything carbonated including beer, which, c'mon, is not what most of us want to have to avoid at a pizza place. I tried two different beers and a soda and they were all upsettingly flat to the point that I ditched my favorite beer for a safe glass of wine.

    • I can only assume something was off with the equipment. Bummer.

šŸ„¦ Yes, but: Waystone offers cauliflower crust for most of its pizzas, a rare option for those who'd rather not have the bread.

šŸ“ Stop by: 3-11pm Monday, 11am-10pm Tuesday through Thursday, 11am-11pm Friday and Saturday and 11am-9pm Sunday at 1200 Garland Ave. Ste. 7 in Fayetteville
