What we're sipping: Word Coffee's rosed 7 iron

Word Coffee on College Avenue in Fayetteville can be hard to miss. The shop is tucked into an older building along the bottleneck area that unofficially separates north and south parts of town — literally two blocks south of North Street.

• It's a quiet retreat, an airy comfortable space.

The setup: I finally had a chance to stop by and took the barista's suggestion to try the "Rosewood 7 Iron" ($6.50). It's made with cold brew, lemonade, Pink House Alchemy hibiscus rose syrup, rose petal sugar and "a piece of Evan's heart" (whoever that is — eww).

The verdict: I feared it would be too sweet, and was surprised to find it was — at most — only mildly sweet.

• As I sipped, the name started to make sense: 7 iron, a golf reference.
• This gem is like an Arnold Palmer with soul.

I'm ashamed to say, replacing the tea with a light brewed coffee never occurred to me before.

• It's a stroke of genius.
