The presidential debate in Philadelphia Tuesday is triggering tight security and road closures around the National Constitution Center .

Why it matters: Travel restrictions will snarl commutes around the Old City museum over the coming days.

What to expect: Temporary lane closures are possible Monday around the center, as preparations get underway for Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump 's first showdown, per a city news release .

Early Tuesday morning, the area will practically close down, with no one permitted within secure closure points set around the museum.

    • Street closures will be in effect between 4th and 7th Streets from Arch to Market Streets.

🚧 Plus: I-676 eastbound lanes from the Ben Franklin Bridge into New Jersey will close after rush hour Tuesday.

    • The 6th Street exit for I-676 eastbound will close too.
    • I-676 westbound is expected to remain open but could close if necessary.

☝️ Additional closures could pop up on Tuesday should public safety issues arise.

Zoom in: The Constitution Center will be closed through Wednesday.

    • Employees who work within the secure zone can access their building through an entry at 7th and Arch Streets.

🪧 Friction point: Protests are expected for the high-profile debate.

🚇 What to watch: SEPTA delays and detours will be posted on the agency's website and social media .
