    Your Philly weekend guide: Simone Biles to perform

    Philly's got plenty of events planned for the first weekend of October.

    🍻 The city's traveling beer garden Parks on Tap is setting up shop on the Strawberry Mansion Bridge to close out the season. Thursday and Friday, 4-10pm; Saturday-Sunday, noon-10pm.


    📐 DesignPhiladelphia is in full swing. Check out dozens of exhibitions, programs, films and workshops highlighting Philly's design community through Oct. 13.

    💡 Night of Lights returns to Chestnut Hill's business corridor on Thursday with illuminated streetscape installations and a new digital laser show. An opening ceremony is set for Friday at 6:45pm near 8328 Germantown Ave. Runs through Oct. 9.

    🎉 It's almost First Friday , so you know what that means: Keep an eye out for exhibits and events in Old City and throughout Philly.

    🛍️ East Passyunk shops will stay open later for Fall First Friday . Find sidewalk sales, flash events, and drink and food specials, 5-9pm.

    🤸🏿‍♀️ Olympic gold medalist Simone Biles and members of the U.S. gymnastics team bring their Gold Over America Tour to the Wells Fargo Center on Friday. See jaw-dropping tumbles, twists and tricks starting at 7:30pm. Tickets: $50-$145

    🇺🇸 Transport back to the dawn of the American republic at the Revolutionary Germantown Festival on Saturday from 10am-4pm. The Cliveden house and other sites in the neighborhood will feature tours, events, and activities including candle dipping and basket weaving. Pay as you go.

    🍂 Start your holiday shopping early at the Girard Estate Neighbors Autumn Market on Saturday from 10am-4pm. Browse more than 30 vendors selling arts, crafts and apparel.

    🏳️‍🌈 Out & About in Manayunk takes over Main Street on Saturday, with LGBTQ artists, entertainment, and performances. 11am-4pm

    🍺 Roxtoberfest has something for everyone: a market with dozens of vendors, beer garden, artwork, kids activities and a scarecrow display along Ridge Avenue. Saturday, noon-6pm

    🐐 Hang out with more than a dozen goats at GOAToberFest at Laurel Hill West Cemetery on Sunday from 3-5pm. Free snacks and drinks, goodie bags and programing led by drag queen Dominique Lee . Tickets: $75; ages 14+
