ChatGPT roasts Phoenix's weather, drivers and sports teams

We asked ChatGPT to roast Phoenix, and it told us we live in the "kind of city where the phrase 'It's a dry heat' is used more often than 'hello' or 'goodbye.'"

πŸ˜… Why it matters: We've used that phrase to defend ourselves against our Midwestern and Southern colleagues at least five times in the past week.

The big picture: The idea came from an Instagram reel of someone asking the AI chatbot to pretend it's a comedian and roast the people of a city.

    • We used the same prompt with the city of Phoenix and its residents, and it shot back a couple of well-aimed zingers.

πŸ”₯ It couldn't get enough of our climate.

    • "You live in a place where the sun feels like it's two feet from your face."
    • "The 'monsoon season' sounds dramatic, but it's really just the sky's way of adding insult to injury by dumping humidity on top of your searing heat. It's like Mother Nature is trying to bake you, then steam you for good measure."
    • "Bravo, Phoenix β€” where the weather hates you, and somehow, you still defend it like it's a personal choice."

🏈 Then it came for our sports fandom.

    • "Phoenix is proud to boast about teams that are perpetually 'on the brink of greatness.'"
    • "You cheer on the Suns like they're your best friend's kid in a school play β€” overly supportive even when they drop the ball (literally)."
    • "Cardinals fans? Half of you are there for the football, the other half for the air-conditioned stadium. Priorities."

🚘 It knows about our driving.

    • "Phoenix drivers β€” you're like NASCAR, but with cacti. It's all about finding that perfect balance between ignoring speed limits and seeing how many potholes you can avoid in one trip."
    • "The minute it rains (or someone thinks about rain), every street turns into a demolition derby."

Yes, but: It conceded that our sunsets are on another level, we have a "sneaky-good" food scene and no one knows how to poolside chill like us.

The bottom line: "Phoenix, we'll roast you for your quirks, but deep down, we know you're a city that takes the heat β€” literally and figuratively β€” and still manages to be pretty cool. Well, not temperature-cool, but you get it."
